Military Pay and Compensation

Members of the U.S. military receive several forms of pay, designed to compensate them for their service to our nation. The three major components of military pay are:

  • Basic pay
  • Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH)
  • Basic Allowance for Subsistence (BAS)

These rates are adjusted annually to compensate for rises in inflation and the increases in the costs of housing and food.
