Military Hotel Discounts

Members of the military may receive substantial discounts on hotel and motel lodging from major national chains. These discounts are designed to help servicemembers in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard save money while on the road.

Current military hotel discounts include:

Choice Hotels offer military travellers (on official business or pleasure travel) discounts on hotel rooms through the Top Brass program. These military discounts are available at Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Quality Inn, Sleep Inn, Clarion, Cambria Suites, MainStay Suites, EconoLodge and Rodeway Inn locations nationwide.

Extended Stay Hotels offer military discounts at some locations around the country. Visit their online booking site to check availability

Best Western Hotels offer military discounts for both business and leisure travel, arranged at per diem rates (or below). More information on the Best Western military discount is available online.

Wyndham Hotels offer military discounts to servicemembers on official orders or leave. You can book online through the Wyndham military travel site.

America’s Best Inns & Suites provide military discounts to military and government travellers. Their website offers more information on military discount lodging rates.

Military Cell Phone Discounts

Members of the military may receive substantial discounts on cellular/mobile telephone service from many of the major wireless carriers. These discounts are designed to help servicemembers in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard keep in touch with family and friends using discounted cell phone service.

Current military cell phone discounts include:

AT&T Wireless offers a 19% discount on cell phone service to anyone with a .mil e-mail address. For more information, visit the AT&T Military Discount website.

T-Mobile offers members of the military a 15% discount on cellular service. Members of the military may sign up for T-Mobile’s military discount by visiting the T-Mobile Corporate Discount website.

Sprint Nextel offers military members a 15% discount on cell phone service. It may be obtained by visiting any Sprint store and telling them you qualify for BPA number W91RUS-06-A-0002.

Verizon Wireless provides a 15% military discount on calling plans priced at $35 and above. You can request the discount on the Verizon military discount website.

Military Car/Automobile Discounts

Several car manufacturers offer discounts on the purchase or lease of new vehicles to members of the U.S. Military. This page lists the currently available offers. You also may be interested in viewing our complete list of military discounts.

Jeep Military Incentive: Offers active duty and retired members of the military, military reserve, veterans and other honorably discharged personnel a $500 discount on the purchase or lease of a new Jeep vehicle.

GM Mililtary Purchase Program: Offers a $500 incentive on eligible GM vehicles to active duty and active reservists in the Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines, National Guard and Coast Guard.

Exchange New Car Sales Program: The Army Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) and Navy Exchange (NEX) join forces to provide the Exchange New Car Sales Program (ENCS) which offers exchange customers discounts on vehicles from Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Harley-Davidson and Buell.

Air Force Specialty Codes (AFSC)

The U.S. Air Force uses the Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC) system to indicate the military job performed by each servicemember. Different AFSCs are used for various career fields and the scheme varies for officers and enlisted personnel.

Enlisted AFSCs

Generally speaking, all enlisted (airman and non-commissioned officer) personnel have a 5-character AFSC. The first digit represents a general career area:

1: Operations

2: Logistics

3: Support

4: Medical

5: Professional

6: Acquisitions

7: Special Investigations

8: Special Duty Identifiers

9: Reporting Identifiers

The second and third characters identify a career group and career field. The fourth character represents the individual’s skill level:

1: Helper

3: Apprentice

5: Journeyman

7: Craftsman

9: Superintendent

0: Chief Enlisted Manager

The final character represents the specific duty of the airman. For example, an airman with an AFSC of 1N378 has the following characterstics:

1: Operations Career Area

N: Intelligence Career Group

3: Cryptologic Linguist Career Field

7: Craftsman Skill Level

8: Polynesian Language

Officer AFSCs follow a slightly different system. Each is only four characters and is constructed as follows:

First Character: Career Group (same as enlisted)

Second Character: Utilization Field

Third Character: Functional Area

Fourth Character: Qualification Level
